It has tall ceilings, over 21 feet at its highest point, that reach the ridge of the roof and there a semi-circular window in the gable for more light and sense of space. At one end of the dining/living area there is a stone lined hearth nook with cast iron woodstove. At the other end is a convenient kitchen that merges into the dining area.
The main floor also includes a guest bedroom and a bathroom with a tile and glass block shower.
A black steel spiral staircase winds to a sleeping loft above. It has views of the treetops through the large gable window, making this space feel like a modern tree house. The loft has high ceilings, plenty of natural light and good closet space under the eaves.
Across the mountaintop lawn is the garage/studio building that mimics the house in siding, roof and design. The garage is a self-contained space that occupies about twenty-five percent of the main floor of the building. The balance of the main floor is studio space with bright lights and wide windows overlooking the panoramic views to the east. There is also a sink and drain in the floor for easy cleaning. Above are additional sleeping quarters for overflow guests.
Juba Mountain Escape is conveniently located just three and a half miles from the village of Sperryville where there is an interesting assortment of restaurants, galleries, shops, breweries and a distillery. Just a few miles further is the historic town of Washington with its world famous Relais and Chateau inn and two-star Michelin Guide restaurant: The Inn at Little Washington. Rappahannock and surrounding counties offer endless recreational possibilities. The Shenandoah National Park, home to scenic Skyline Drive, Old Rag Mountain, and many miles of trails, is a stone’s throw away. Just over the mountain, the Shenandoah River offers canoeing, kayaking, tubing and fishing. Looking for cultural activities? Visit one of the many art galleries, attend a play or a concert at one of the theaters, including the famous Castleton Theater, or visit the Rappahannock Historical Society’s museum. Culpeper, about 25 minutes away, has pubs, restaurants, shopping, a hospital and more.
