The rear deck is particularly nice as it feels like you are sitting in the treetops.
The main floor features a large living room with a soaring wood burning fireplace and cathedral ceiling.It adjoins a family room area that opens to the rear deck. The living room and family area open naturally to the rear deck, forming a large contiguous space that is ideal for good-sized gatherings and make the cabin feel both welcoming and open.
The kitchen and dining area feature an open floor plan for easy meals and casual entertaining. The kitchen has oak cabinets and exposed beams ready for drying herbs and displaying favorite cookware. The dining area has a big bay window overlooking the front gardens and forest beyond. The exposed beams, log walls, wood floors and brick chimney create a delightfully rustic ambiance.
The main floor has a first floor master bedroom and adjacent bathroom with a big soaking tub. Conveniently, the home has everything you need for day-in day-out usage on the main floor. The cabin provides ample storage in two walk-in closets and areas under the eaves.
The upper level has an open area that overlooks the living room and fireplace and can double as a library/office and a place for television viewing. Four skylights create a well-lit cheerful space. There are two more bedrooms and two full baths on the upper level.
The 8.3 acre lot is laced with mountain laurel that is spectacular in the spring. The house is entirely private with no other houses in sight. About one acre of cleared land surrounds the house with plantings of flowers (including about two dozen peony plants), other shrubs, and ornamental trees. Jackson Lane is a private, quiet and lightly traveled entrance into the property.
The Cabin on Jackson Lane is conveniently located, just off of Sperryville Pike on the way to Culpeper and is within minutes of the world-renowned Castleton in Performance. Attend one of the monthly events, then make the quick drive to the five-star Inn at Little Washington for an unsurpassed dining experience. Feel like kicking back instead? Take a short drive to enjoy Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive, with its miles of hiking trails and scenic vistas. Then visit some of the county’s many farms and wineries to craft your own feast and sit on the back deck enjoying the fading light of sunset, trees and mountains silhouetted against darkening sky.
In addition to world-class performances and dining, Rappahannock County is home to wineries, breweries, a distillery, numerous art galleries and antique stores, and many other interesting shops and attractions.
The Cabin on Jackson Lane is only a little more than an hour and a half from Washington, DC, and even closer to Charlottesville. While Rappahannock County has no chain stores, Culpeper is about 15 minutes away, providing ample shopping options. In Rappahannock County you can still have it all while getting away from it all.
